Not only is it a great port, but it also includes the "Road of Devastation" DLC, which is a nice addition. It is a challenging game that requires skill to complete, while also having enough collectibles to warrant a careful playthrough. The atmosphere is engaging, which can create suspenseful moments. You will not regret purchasing this game. What's new about Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition?
On top of that, I really enjoyed the controls and this game is a blast with a friend; coop campaign or coop horde mode. Don't listen to people saying there's no reload or run buttons. What I've always loved about this game is the strategic nature of balancing out your inventory of distractions flares, etc And yes this is technically a "survival horror" game yes u have to survive and yes zombies fit into the genre of horror but it was never meant to be compared to the likes of Resident Evil or the Last of Us.
It was designed to be more like the old arcade game Smash TV. This version of Dead Nation is still a fun, frantic, retro, slightly strategic, top down shooter with some great leveling up mechanics. This was the first time playing Dead Nation so i came in with a open mind, The game does not take advantage of the PS4 it looks like i was playing the original game on the PS3. The controls are the worst, every time i went to throw a grenade or flare i sprinted across the screen.

Genres: Top-Down, Multidirectional, Shooter. Developer: Housemarque. Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment. Alias: Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition. High PlayStation 3. PlayStation 4. By Colin Moriarty Posted: 4 Apr am. It's hard not to appreciate a developer like Housemarque. In an industry where lots of studios lack consistency, Housemarque has it in droves. It outputs high quality, critically acclaimed and commercially successful products with regularity, such as PlayStation's Super Stardust series, the multi-platform side-scroller Outland, and PS4's best game, Resogun.
The oft-overlooked Dead Nation also deserves to be in the conversation, and thankfully, its re-release on PlayStation 4 puts it back on the radar. It's the same addictive, difficult twin-stick shooter, but with some bundled-in DLC and extra perks to keep you busy. Then again, even if Apocalypse Edition was nothing more than a mere retread of the original game, it'd still be a blast playing it all over again.
It's still eerie, difficult, and a ton of fun to play, whether online with your friends or on your own in a dimly-lit room.
