Not really. I always hoped She could have responded in anger, or attempted to protect herself. Instead she accepts his decision and reveals that she has cared for him all along. Even before he gives her the news though, Harry intuitively knows it is going to be okay.
Harry and Ginny have an intense sexual attraction - based, in a large part, on a shared sense of humour. They have a similar value system and communicate extremely effectively. These are all keys to forming a healthy long-term relationship. Are there any possible concerns? Ginny is merciless, ripping into Ron about his own lack of experience. Or have you got a picture of Aunt Muriel stashed under your pillow?
The most obvious example is Dudley. In the first book, before Harry learns of Hogwarts, Dudley teases him about the local comprehensive. Several people gasped, including Hermione. Behind Snape, however, Ron, Dean and Seamus grinned appreciatively. Something for you to wear on Tuesday. And recognition is something he yearns for. Harry knows this - Hermione has tried to explain it to him.
In this respect, the way Harry and Ginny both use their humour as a weapon - they are evenly matched. They both have the same dark, dry wit and they are not afraid to us it when it suits them. It is likely they could turn this weapon on each other - every couple fights eventually. It may work out, however, that they would be less hurt by a defence mechanism they both use and understand. Also, their rather mature emotional honesty to date indicates they would survive any squabbles fairly well.
Harry did not end the relationship with Ginny because he did not want to be with her any more. Ginny meets that need perfectly and as a result they share a very strong sexual attraction. As a couple they also have a similar value system, and honest and open communication. As a result, if Harry and Ginny both survive the war with Voldemort, they seem to have a very good chance of sharing a healthy, happy, long-term romantic relationship.
Where does that leave Hermione Granger? While Harry longs for humour, Hermione has demonstrated that she has a very passionate desire for debate. Perhaps this source of pleasure explains why she has chosen Ron Weasley as her sparring partner. It also addresses other ways, such as communication, in which they are not suited.
Post a new comment Error. That said, their relationship does seem a little rushed, and, though it's significantly more fleshed out in the novels, the two only really feel like a compatible couple in the last movie, if ever. We all know that Harry was — or at least would have been — very close to his parents had the whole Voldemort thing not gone down.
Given these circumstances, it makes sense that Harry would strongly admire Ginny. However, it's disturbing that Harry ended up in a romantic relationship with a character who seemed to be based on his own mother. However, after the events of the Triwizard Tournament finale, Harry struck up something of a relationship with her. Two of his kids were admittedly named after his parents, but one of his sons seemingly drew the short straw and received the title of Albus Severus Potter.
This is an awful name no matter how you slice it, and some fans still wonder why Ginny went along with this nonsense. For the apparently cash-strapped, semi-backward, overly-quirky Weasley family, she sure seems to have defied expectations. While there may be a few subtle qualms about her hinted at in the books, they never really come across as prominent or character-altering in any way.
In the world of romance, two wrongs seldom make a right, and it seems that Harry and Ginny would drive each other crazy long before the Boy Who Lived could have popped the question.
Readers know Harry to be a strong, enduring, and obdurate character who is determined to conquer anything. Yet, if Ginny is as headstrong as Harry, then even the slightest disagreements in the Potter household would likely flair up into outrageous arguments.
There has to be a bit of give and take in a relationship, and if these two are truly as strong and independent as Rowling makes them out to be, then they would have hit rocky waters sooner rather than later. Rowling sort of went off the deep end when it came to writing suitable biographies for her characters after the series came to a close, and, as a result, just about everyone mentioned in the Harry Potter universe went on to live fabulously rewarding, flawless lives.
Ginny, for instance, became a professional Quidditch player later in life, eventually retiring and reporting on the sport. If Harry was the quarterback for the Hogwarts football team, then Ginny would have been the all-star wide receiver. However, the fact that she had become a Hogwarts graduate, wizarding military veteran, and professional athlete by the age of around twenty or so is just totally ridiculous.
Harry and Ginny got close but that was the time Ginny got popular. Harry only realized his feelings when Ginny started going out with boys and he felt jealous. He kissed her in the Gryffindor party because he was proud of her and liked her. He didn't care what happened to his reputation unlike for Hermione, not liking Rita Skeeter when Rita wrote fake articles about Harry and Hermione dating.
Which he tried to stop. After kissing Ginny they went out and stuff. He broke up with her for her safety. He shipped Hermione and Ron and it was very clear in the Burrow. She's tough, not in an unpleasant way, but she's gutsy. He needs to be with someone who can stand the demands of being with Harry Potter, because he's a scary boyfriend in a lot of ways. He's a marked man. I think she's funny, and I think that she's very warm and compassionate.
These are all things that Harry requires in his ideal woman. But, I felt — and I'm talking years ago when all this was planned — initially, she's terrified by his image.
I mean, he's a bit of a rock god to her when she sees him first, at 10 or 11, and he's this famous boy. So Ginny had to go through a journey as well. And rather like with Ron, I didn't want Ginny to be the first girl that Harry ever kissed. That's something I meant to say, and it's kind of tied in. One of the ways in which I tried to show that Harry has done a lot of growing up — in Phoenix , remember when Cho comes into the compartment, and he thinks, 'I wish I could have been discovered sitting with better people,' basically?
He's with Luna and Neville. So literally the identical thing happens in Prince , and he's with Luna and Neville again, but this time, he has grown up, and as far as he's concerned he is with two of the coolest people on the train.
